Theme: UNITING TO END BREAST CANCER
Over the years, the Global Breast cancer advocacy movement has helped transform the experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer. The wave has moved from “It’s OK to have breast cancer, you don’t have to hide it” to It’s not OK to have breast cancer this must be stopped”– culled. Popular breast cancer organisation strongly behind this new movement is the National Breast Cancer Coalition(NBCC) among many others. These organisations have through activities promoted breast cancer early detection, women right to participate in treatment options and mutual support. In recent times the groups in addition, through lobbying and political activism, pushed for support for research for prevention of primary breast cancer and metastases . Although the movment in Nigeria is well behind this pace, we do not want to be left out.
Join us at the 2nd BRECAN Breast cancer symposium in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of BRECAN being held in Ibadan from 31 October-3rd November, 2012. Following the successful conference in Ibadan in 2007, this years conference is titled ‘ Uniting to end breast cancer” . This scientific programme will be presented by an international faculty that will promote and facilitate an exchange of research and practical information among diverse practitioners working in breast cancer care in Nigeria. Africa and around the world. It will also bring together cancer specialists and dignitaries from senior policy makers to prominent experts, physicians, nurses, social workers, researchers and NGO representatives from within Nigeria and Globally.
BRECAN Breast symposium, now held every 5 years is set to become the largest forum in the country that brings together specialist and patients advocates as well as policy makers involved in the care of breast cancer patients.
