Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state is located in southwestern Nigeria, 128 km inland northeast of Lagos and 530 km southwest of Abuja(the federal capital). It is the largest metropolitan geographical area in Nigeria and is a prominent transit point between the coastal region and the areas to the north of the country.
It boasts of several local attractions including,
-a museum in the building of the Institute of African Studies, which exhibits several remarkable pre-historic bronze carvings and statues
-the University of Ibadan. The first university to be set up in Nigeria
-a zoo located inside the University of Ibadan,
-a botanical garden located at Agodi.
-The Bower Memorial Tower to the east on Oke Aàre which can be seen from practically any point in the city,it also provides an excellent view of the whole city from the top
-The Cocoa House, first skyscraper in Africa
