After breakfast, summit attendees learned in the first plenary session “who and what is in the way of progress toward the end of breast cancer” and how NBCC is working to overcome those barriers. The second plenary session was a discussion on making the end to breast cancer a priority on the national political agenda.
At the Annual Advocate Summit Luncheon, Dr. Otis Brawley was the keynote speaker and shared his perspective on the problems with the current health care system.
Rest of the day was dedicated to state action planning workshop and lobby day state delegation meetings. Advocates dispersed to their various states and developed action plans towards achieving the 2020 goal: How to get signed petition at community events throughout the year, identifying team leaders and subgroups for lobby day, recap on legislator support status.
Later on that evening was the annual summit Reception. It was a relaxing setting, dancing and socializing with other advocates. Meeting with attendees on a lighter note. FUN!!!
