On the 17th of November, 2020, the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) joined the rest of the world to mark the launch of the Global Strategy to Eradicate Cervical Cancer by the World Health Organization.

It is great news indeed that finally, the world has stepped up to eradicate Cervical Cancer! We hope that other forms of cancers especially breast cancer will follow soon.

BRECAN plans to make our offices/centers a one-stop shop for breast and cervical cancers advocacy and education. It will also entail raising awareness, screening, HPV vaccination, fundraising to support treatment, and data collection for collaborative research.

The WHO’s goals are that by the year 2030, all countries would have achieved 90% HPV vaccination coverage, 70% screening coverage, and 90% access to treatment of cervical pre-cancer and cancer, including access to palliative care.

At BRECAN, we will be there all the way, contributing our quota to this fight against Cervical Cancer. As always, giving hope and saving lives.
