World Cancer Day 2023 – Close the Care Gap
To mark World Cancer Day, 2023, the organization has concluded plans for programs billed to be held across our 6 chapters spread out in the different regions of Nigeria.
Awareness creation is the fulcrum of our operation, as it has been identified as one of the panaceas to the problem of late presentation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
BRECAN will mark the WCD activities in Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, and Imo states, as well as in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Below is an overview of the programs outlined for our chapters.

- 3 days of free breast, cervical, and prostate cancer screening in different locations
- Bayelsa State: January 31st – February 4th, 2023.

- School awareness creation in 3 senatorial Districts of Bayelsa
- Cervical cancer screening @ 3 fixed post

- Religious places
- Awareness walk
- Imo State: February 4th, 2023.
- Massive awareness campaigns to schools in Owerri,
- Lagos State: February 3rd – 4th, 2023.
- Awareness campaigns to selected secondary school
- Market storm, an awareness campaign to markets in Lagos
- Abuja: February 4th, 2023.
- Walk against cancer
- Relaunch of the Abuja chapter of BRECAN
Target: We plan to create awareness among over 30,000 people, and screen over 2,000 women and men. To achieve this, we need support to procure IEC materials, organize the walks, procure T-shirts and caps, screening materials, and handle other logistics.
These programs are planned to run concurrently across the chapters listed above.
