Lagos First Lady Lends Her Support to Brecan; Leads Brecan Jog for Life in Lagos

Efforts of the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) towards sustained awareness on the scourge of breast cancer in Nigeria received a major boost as the wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, joined the founder and wife of Ondo State Governor, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, to participate in the Lagos 2022 Jog for Life.

The First Ladies led other joggers on Saturday, 29th October 2022 to further create awareness on breast cancer through ‘Jog for Life’. Jog for Life is BRACAN’s annual 5km road exercise used for creating awareness, making advocacy, raising funds for patient support and promoting exercise as a healthy lifestyle. It is a major feature of BRECAN’s pink October programme organized across all BRECAN chapters.

Organised by the Lagos State Chapter of BRECAN, the jogging, led by Dr Sanwo-Olu commenced from Boundary Roundabout Park/Federal Government Press Mobile Road, Apapa, and ended at Saint Gorge Military Church, 27 Point Road, Apapa, Lagos State.

In her remarks, the Lead Jogger expressed delight in participating in the awareness programme, noting that BRECAN’s efforts to extend the gospel to more women, to ensure that women are reached and briefed on the nature of breast cancer and the need for early diagnosis and treatment, and seeking government’s support are in order and in good time.

BRECAN seizes opportunities like this to engage political leaders and stakeholders to take action and do the right thing.
